Our Honorable Finance Minister Mrs. Nirmala Sihtaraman has announced the union budget on 1st Feb 2024. She has said that the Indian economy witness extreme transmission in the last 10 years. Here are the key announcements of budget 2024.
Following are the key announcements of budget 2024.
1. Nari Shakti
- Female enrolment in higher education up by 28% in 10 years in STEM courses.
- Free healthcare under Ayushman Bharat to be extended to Asha worker, Anganwadi workers.
- Vaccination for girls in the 9-14 year age group for the prevention of cervical cancer.
- Target for Lakhpati Didi Scheme enhanced from ₹2 crore to ₹3 crore.
2. Tax Regime
- No relief for tax payers same tax slabs to continue.
3. Tourism
- Projects for enhancing tourism revenue, especially for islands, including Lakshadweep
4. Free Ration
- 80 crore people are provided free ration.
5. Railway or Airport
- Three major economic railway corridors announced , including an energy mineral and cement corridor , port connectively corridor and high traffic density corridor.
- 40,000 rail bogies to be converted to Vande Bharat Standards.
- Airport doubled to 149 in last decades.
6. GDP
FM Sithraman has said that the government is focused on GDP (Governance, development and performance).
7. Sustainability and Free Electricity
Rooftop solarisation scheme to help one core houses, free electricity ,selling of surplus energy. First three hundreds units of solar system.
8. Real Estate
Close to achieving three crore houses target under PM Awas Yojana Grameen. Aiming additional two crore houses in five years.
9. Education
The skill India Mission trained 1.4 crore youth, established 3000 new ITIs, 7IITs, 16 IIITs, 7IIMs, 15 AIIMS and 390 Universities have been set up.
10. Others
- Direct benefit of ₹34 lakh crore via Jan Dhan
- The PM SVANidhi scheme supported over ₹78 Lakh vendors.
- ₹11.8 Crore farmers assisted under the PM Kisan Yojana
- ₹30 Crore Mudra loans to women entrepreneurs in last 10 years.
- FM says the government has assisted ₹25 crore people to escape from multidimensional poverty.
